University of Massachusetts Legal Assistant/Immigration Paralegal

The University of Massachusetts is seeking a detail-oriented and database-driven individual for a position in its Office of General Counsel.  This position requires significant responsibility for extensive case management and client contact, as well as general legal office responsibilities for 5 attorneys in our Shrewsbury, Mass, office.
Job Description:
        Assist attorney in the preparation and filing of employment-based immigration petitions/applications with the U.S. Department of Labor, U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services and U.S. State Department;
        Written and oral communications with university partners and employees, per internal immigration policies and procedures;
        Oversight and management of all aspects of Sunapsis case-management software, including data entry/integrity, case status tracking, queries, reports, alerts, e-forms, templates, etc.
        Document all business practices for employment-based visa processing with the goal of becoming as efficient and paperless as possible;
        Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information on employee immigration status, benefits and other personal data.
         General office duties for 5 attorneys, including: processing travel and expense reports; managing electronic file management system for attorneys; calendar and meeting management; filing documents with state or federal agencies; processing invoices for payment; coordinate with building management for supplies, repairs, and other resources for legal office.
Requirements:
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (especially Excel, Access, and Power Point)
        Excellent computer skills
        Experience with database management
        Strong organizational and analytical skills
        Ability to work independently
 Prior legal office and immigration experience preferred; experience working in another higher education institution a plus.  NOTE:  this position is not open to JDs, LLBs or LLMs.

Additional Information:
Starting salary for this position will be commensurate with candidate's experience. No relocation assistance available.
