[Ed.-- This is another job which is willing to take somebody with no experience and no college degree.  This may become its own sub-genre of job.]

Law firm in Fairfax, Virginia has an opportunity for a receptionist / administrative assistant to work in a small firm (1 - 2 attorney) environment on a full-time basis (37.5 to 40 hours/week). This is intended to be a long-term position, and is perfect for someone who plans to live in the area for a long time and is looking for a stable position in which to grow.

The assistant's duties include, but are not limited to, answering the phone, professionally greeting clients, copying/scanning documents, drafting letters to clients and other parties, gathering information from clients, managing the mail, filing documents in court, obtaining records, maintaining the office (such as restocking supplies and occasional light cleaning), and other typical secretarial duties. With time, the assistant will be delegated additional responsibilities as appropriate. In addition, the secretary will be assigned personal assistant tasks, such as running errands or doing research unrelated to the law.

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Internet searching is essential. Strong phone etiquette is expected. Excellent professional writing and spelling skills are absolutely necessary, as are typing skills. The interview will include a brief typing and spelling test that will be a major factor in hiring decisions. A positive attitude is very much welcome. Otherwise no experience is necessary, neither is a college degree (no JDs please)

If you are interested in the position, please send your resume to the email above. The hourly wage in the first year is expected to be $13-$14 depending on the candidate's qualifications. You must have a car, as it will be needed for duties such as court filings. The office is located in a professional building off of I-66 and US 50, and has free, convenient parking. Start date is expected to be on or around October 1, 2014.

  1. Administrative assistance is a job that contains huge burden on your shoulder. Normally these kind of jobs are highly paid because personal assistant or administrative assistant is a very tough job, even you are considered the second person after the owner.
