Small law firm specializing in corporate/business immigration law seeks
detail-oriented individual with exceptional writing and organization
skills. Position involves preparing petitions, applications, and other
legal documents to permit U.S. companies and organizations to employ
foreign nationals in the United States.
Primary areas of responsibility include the following:
- Case preparation, involving writing / organizing documents to be filed with federal agencies;
- Interaction with employers and foreign nationals concerning preparation and progress of case;
- Preparation of petition and application forms based on information supplied by clients;
- Drafting letters, affidavits, summaries, arguments, etc. for attorney and client review;
- Coordinating collection of information and documentation;
- Preparation of applications in government online / electronic systems;
- Monitoring government action on visa petitions/applications;
- Maintaining caseload database; and
- Providing legal and administrative support for attorney activities.
Minimum Requirements include:
- Bachelor's degree (preferably in English or other writing-intensive field);
- Attention to detail and accuracy is essential (will be expected to produce error-free work);
- Must be able to work independently and productively and manage multiple priorities;
- Ability to work under strict deadlines and closely monitor filing dates is also critical;
- Strong professional writing skills.
- Exceptional computer skills necessary (office runs in Mac environment, with some Windows-based programs).
- Related experience is a plus but not required. Willing to train the right candidate.
This is not a temporary or "filler" job in preparation for entering law
school the following year. We are prepared to invest a great deal of
time in educating and training the right person, and we would expect a
reasonable commitment of time in return. We ask that you be willing to
make a two-year commitment. No attorneys or JDs/LLMs.
