Showing, one job listing at a time, how toxic a JD is on the job market. Please don't go to law school.

Mission Statement of this Blog

Now that the word is out that it is frequently not possible for law school graduates to find job as lawyers, law schools and their advocates frequently claim that JD's can instead apply for "JD Advantage" jobs-- those opportunities where a JD may not be required, but is helpful.

"JD Advantage" jobs exist, but are incredibly rare; further, given the extreme cost of law school, it is unlikely that even somebody who lands a "JD Advantage" job is better off than a similarly situated person who did not go to law school.

This blog exists to document instances of the opposite, much more common phenomena: An employer who considers a JD such a negative that they explicitly say in the job ab that JD's will not be considered.  This blog exists to collect and memorialize such ads.  Thinking about going to law school?  First, take a look at all the great jobs you could have without it and can't have with it.  Then, think long and hard before you do.

Please feel free to submit any you find to jddisadvantage@gmail.com.

Credit for the idea and initial spate of posts goes to JD Underground.

Thanks.
